Breastmilk is the best for babies. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Unnecessary introduction of bottle feeding or other food and drinks will have a negative impact on breastfeeding. After six months of age, infants should receive age-appropriate foods while breastfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond. Consult your doctor before deciding to use infant formula or if you have difficulty breastfeeding.

Healthy Sleeping Habits for Newborn Babies

According to a recent study conducted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, healthy sleeping habits are conducive to improving your child’s overall well-being. The research, which has also been endorsed by the American Academy of Paediatrics states that children who get adequate sleep on a regular basis are likely to achieve improved attention, behavior, learning, memory, emotional regulation, quality of life, and mental and physical health.

How much sleep should your child get per day?

Recommended Amount of Sleep Per Day:

  • Infants 4 months to 12 months should sleep 12 to 16 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
  • Children 1 to 2 years of age should sleep 11 to 14 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
  • Children 3 to 5 years of age should sleep 10 to 13 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.

    • Taking a bath
    • Changing into pyjamas and fresh diapers
