Breastmilk is the best for babies. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Unnecessary introduction of bottle feeding or other food and drinks will have a negative impact on breastfeeding. After six months of age, infants should receive age-appropriate foods while breastfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond. Consult your doctor before deciding to use infant formula or if you have difficulty breastfeeding.

Early Life Nutrition Programming (ENP) & epigenetics: How can it shape the health for the future of your child?

Epigenetics means the study of genetics that is influenced by other external factors, particularly the environmental factors - nutrition. The diet influences the health of your child by at least 80 percent. Epigenetics explore the changes in our genes that are not caused by the DNA but by external factors. The Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) is affected by the information being sent to it, as influenced by the environmental factors - especially diet and lifestyle habits.

Every child is born with a DNA which consists of a unique and lifelong combination of genes that cannot be changed. At the time of conception, your baby is a single cell. During pregnancy, the cell divides into new cells and these are divided again - this process is then constantly repeated across for the whole life. Each of the newly created cells contains the same DNA but is read like a "blueprint" so that cells will behave differently.

The blueprint of the body

"Blueprints" of the body consist of a gene sequence and epigenetic processes to ensure that only certain genes are activated. The diet plays a decisive role in these processes.

These findings form the basis of ENP research on early childhood nutrition because about 80 percent of your child's future is in your hands and 20 percent is determined by the parent genes.

Epigenetics and ENP

The epigenetic process in the body of your child is 5 times as responsivev as an adult the first 1,000 days with the fastest growth period in this time frame.

You have the opportunity to make a decisive impact on the future health of your baby. You can start developing key building blocks of the body with proper nutrition for your baby in the first few months of life, which is important for the support of the brain, metabolism and natural defences.

Take the chance to carve the future of your child with your own hands and set the path for the future health of your baby now.
