Breastmilk is the best for babies. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Unnecessary introduction of bottle feeding or other food and drinks will have a negative impact on breastfeeding. After six months of age, infants should receive age-appropriate foods while breastfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond. Consult your doctor before deciding to use infant formula or if you have difficulty breastfeeding.
It cannot be said with 100% certainty whether a child will develop an allergy. What is certain is that the frequency of allergies is linked to heredity. Allergies in themselves are not hereditary, but there is a higher risk of developing an allergy, if one or both of the parents or siblings have allergies
The most common symptoms: shortness of breath, frequent coughing, asthma. The symptoms often occur together and after contact with certain substances (e.g. pollen, house dust mites).
