Going back to work after maternity leave was the hardest thing ever. If I knew these useful tips earlier, coping with work may have been easier. Here’re some tips to save you the pain.

  1. Spare Pumps
    If you’re breast-feeding, buy a second set of pumping parts to leave at work. Bring a spare nursing cover if you do not have nursing room in your office.

  2. Mum Guilt
    Mum guilt is real. Manage the guilt as it will not be going away anytime soon.

  3. Adjusting to Work Life
    You’ll find it hard to adjust after 4 months of maternity leave. Manage your own expectations and do let your boss know if you have need more time to catch up with your work and adjust to the new routine back at work.

  4. Household Chores
    Outsource your household chores if you feel that you spend more time cleaning during the weekends than with your baby.

  5. Childcare
    If your family member is not able to care for your baby when you head back to work and childcare is the only option, do ensure that you visit the centre prior to registration to observe how the teachers interact and care for the children.
