Your 29th week

Your body

The additional 1.5 litres of blood that flows in your body is strongly demanded now. Walks could strengthen your heart and improve your total well-being. Increased water retention in the tissue may now swell around your feet and fingers. Wear more stretchable and comfortable shoes and remove the rings at night.

Your Baby

Your baby is connected by the umbilical cord, with the connections of the brain, nerves and muscles being trained now. The placenta will start to form important defensive substances to protect your baby against infectious diseases. Your baby is already more than 38 centimetres tall and weighs about 1,150 grams now.

Our AptaAdvantage Tip

Been having a tough time finding for a suitable sleeping position? Avoid sleeping on your back during the second half of pregnancy as this position puts the full weight of your uterus on your spine, back muscles, intestines, and the inferior vena cava (the vein that transports blood from your lower body to the heart). Back-sleeping can also put you at risk for backaches and haemorrhoids, inefficient digestion, impaired breathing and circulation. Lying on your back in the second and third trimester can also cause changes in blood pressure. For some women, it can cause a drop in blood pressure, making them feel dizzy; for others, it can cause an unwanted increase in blood pressure.
